Get Your Custom Contact Lens Prescription
If you’d like to wear contacts for sports, special occasions, or as your day-to-day vision correction option, a contact lens prescription is essential. Your prescription for contacts is different from your glasses prescription. It features information about the shape of your eyes as well as the correction you need.
We’re happy to provide contact lens-specific exams as well as fitting appointments to help you find a comfortable pair of lenses.
Your Contact Lens Exam
Because a contact lens sits directly on your eye, we take several precise measurements of the curvature of your eye during your contact lens exam. These measurements are key for getting clear, comfortable vision from your contacts.
We measure the curve of your cornea (the front part of your eye) and the size of your pupil and iris. People with dry eyes often feel discomfort when wearing contacts. So we also assess your tear film and ask you about any dry eye symptoms, like feelings of grittiness or excessively watery eyes.
In some cases, we use an automated device called a corneal topographer to map the surface of your cornea in even more detail. This can be especially helpful for those with astigmatism because they sometimes have trouble finding comfortable contacts due to an irregularly shaped cornea.
Fitting Your Contacts
We want you to experience excellent vision with your contacts, so we take time to find you the right fit. We also train you how to insert and remove your contacts, if necessary, and show you how to take care of them.
Types of Contact Lenses
We’re happy to offer both soft and rigid gas permeable lenses for our patients who are nearsighted or farsighted and toric lenses for those with astigmatism.
If you’re over 40, you might benefit from wearing multifocal contact lenses. These lenses correct both near and far vision at the same time, so you typically don’t need reading glasses.
And if you’d like to change up your look, we stock coloured contact lenses, too.
